We Might As Well Be Dead

Anna (Ioana Iacob) lives and works at an isolated and self-sufficient apartment complex with strict tenant expectations. Life in the complex is perfect until one of the tenant’s dogs mysteriously vanishes. Even worse, Anna’s daughter Iris (Pola Geiger) becomes convinced she carries an evil that causes her thoughts to become reality. These events set the stage for a slow but nevertheless maddening descent for the complex’s tenants, who become more paranoid about the outside than ever before in this timely dramatic satire.

The bright lighting throughout We Might As Well Be Dead masks an irrational but intense terror that has become all too familiar to us over the past few years. With its dynamic cinematography and an engaging slow burn, Natalia Sinelnikova’s feature film debut may cast your own HOA in a whole new light.--Frederic Boyer
